Dr. Bruce Lehnert, DPM, International Extremity Project


Dr. Bruce Lehnert, DPM, is a visionary leader in global medical outreach and a driving force behind the International Extremity Project (IEP). As co-founder and medical director, he has dedicated his career to transforming lives through reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. Since 1998, he has organized and led medical missions, performing complex procedures on children and adults suffering from severe lower-extremity deformities.

A highly respected foot and ankle surgeon with Sports, Orthopedic, and Rehabilitation Medicine Associates, Dr. Lehnert brings more than 30 years of surgical expertise to his patients. His extensive training, including a residency and fellowship in foot and ankle surgery, has positioned him at the forefront of his field. A recognized educator and researcher, he holds teaching appointments at the California College of Podiatric Medicine and Temple University and has authored numerous scientific publications.

With an unwavering commitment to global health, Dr. Lehnert has led more than 17 medical missions across Southeast Asia and Africa, delivering life-changing care to some of the world’s most underserved populations. In 2025, he will embark on his first mission to the Himalayan region, expanding IEP’s reach and impact to Bhutan. His leadership, surgical expertise, and dedication to humanitarian medicine continue to change the future for patients in desperate need of specialized care.
