Preparing for Can Tho

Dr. Jeff Spanko at MedShare.
The California-based members of the medical team met Saturday to go through more details for the trip to Can Tho at the end of the year. We have our passports and visas all settled. The medical supplies we're taking with us are are all in hand or on the way from the companies donating them. We're getting down to the details of ordering medications and counting marking pens.

Each person on the mission team will have three pieces of luggage -- one personal bag and two bins of medical supplies, ranging from dressings to surgical screws.

Team members are fund-raising to support the mission. To contribute, donate to the International Children Assistance Network and select International Extremity Project as the recipient. Every bit helps us help the people of Vietnam.

Jeff and Jenni made a trip to MedShare in San Leandro for supplies last week.
MedShare is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving healthcare and the environment through the efficient recovery and redistribution of the surplus of medical supplies and equipment to those most in need. We collect surplus medical supplies and equipment from hospitals, distributors and manufacturers, and then redistributes it to qualified healthcare facilities in the developing world. We also outfit medical missions and safety net clinics in both the U.S. and abroad.
