Angola Medical Mission: Final Day

On our last day in Angola, we visited all 63 of our patients. Our patients are at CETEP, a medical community on the outskirts of Luanda. They’ll stay there for follow-up for the next few weeks before they return to their home provinces across Angola.

It was so amazing to see all our patients with big smiles. We met many of their families, who were happy and very grateful for our work over seven full days of surgery.

The families were taking pictures with our team. Anna Louisa, the First Lady’s assistant, brought books her daughter had written for all the children. There were many happy and sad tears as we celebrated successful surgeries with patients and their families and said goodbye to our Angolan partners with whom we worked so closely over these last 12 days.

In this mission, we diagnosed and treated the most cases and extremities by our team in so few surgery days. The amazing Angolan team was instrumental in pre-screening patients as well as organizing the entire operating room and post-operative and follow-up care.

We left detailed post-op instructions with our trusted Angolan doctors, who will send us regular updates and patient notes over the next few months.
