We're very well settled into a routine. The team is in-sync with the Bhutan side of the equation. They are as excited to have us as we are to be here, all with the goal of helping our fellow humans.
Their sense of humor is on track with ours. They speak English so well that even the subtleties of humor carry through. Although, one of the funniest docs said Americans don’t always get his jokes. I replied, "Because, they're not funny." The whole operating room erupted in belly laughs.
We have rounded on the patients and they are doing well. We completed seven big cases today, including the first ever arthroscopy performed by the team. While we do them at home, it is not typical to do on an IEP mission, or "camp" as they call them in Bhutan.
On top of the care we provided, the team delivered dental and foot/ankle lectures in the morning.
Dr. Kao performed periodontal surgery at the highest level.
Tonight, the Ministry of Health is hosting us for dinner. Merry Christmas!
