When I came on this IEP mission, I was not sure what to expect as the hand therapist.
Amazingly, I met two hand therapists when we arrived and was able to work 2 1/2 days with one of them. I was grateful for the opportunity to help provide evaluation and treatments for over 20 patients during this time.
It was amazing to be able to see these therapists at work and to be able to share my experiences and knowledge with them. We worked with fractures, nerve injury, arthritis patients and had the opportunity to work with Bhutan’s first toe-to-thumb transfer patient.
At the end, the therapist said he had learned much in a short time and that the patients we saw benefited from having new eyes on their injuries.
I know that I have been truly blessed by this experience, too.
